Application processing time

Once you submit your application with all required information and documents, we aim to assess it within 42 calendar days. We'll contact you if we need anything further.

If you're homeless or at risk of homelessness, we may carry out a separate homelessness assessment. We have a statutory duty to assess eligible applicants and determine what help we may need to provide. Homelessness applications are prioritised by individual circumstances and legal requirements.

Wait times for social housing

Demand for social housing in West Northamptonshire is significantly higher than the number of homes available. Even if you qualify for the register, you may face a long wait for accommodation.

Wait times depend on:

  • your priority band
  • the type and size of property you need
  • your preferred areas
  • how many suitable homes become available
