Change of circumstances
Change of circumstances
Keeping your application up to date
You must tell us if your circumstances change while your application is on the Housing Register. This helps us make sure your application is accurate and that you're being considered for the right properties.
Examples of changes you must tell us about include:
- Someone joining or leaving your household
- A change of address
- Pregnancy
- Changes to your health or support needs
- Changes to your income, savings or assets
- Changes to your housing situation
We may ask you to provide supporting evidence. If we do not receive the information requested within 28 days, your application may be suspended or cancelled.
How a change could affect your application
When we receive notification of a change, we will review your application and reassess your housing need.
As a result, we may:
- Move you to a higher priority band
- Keep you in the same band
- Move you to a lower priority band
- Decide that you no longer qualify for the Housing Register
If you are placed in a higher priority band, your effective date will normally change to the date the higher band is awarded. If you remain in the same band or move to a lower band, your original effective date will usually stay the same.
Why it's important
If you do not tell us about a change in circumstances, your application may not reflect your current housing need. This could affect:
- The properties you can bid for
- Your priority band
- Your position within the Housing Register
- Whether you continue to qualify for the Housing Register
You are responsible for keeping your application information up to date.
